PERRYVILLE, Mo. (KFVS) - The ship will set sail one last time, destination State.
Perryville booked a trip to the Class 2 final four, with a 1-0 win over Bayless, Saturday in the quarterfinals.
For much of the game, the visiting Bronchos controlled the pace and the midfield. Pirates’ goalie Waylon Huber had his work cut out for him, making several saves in the first 45 to keep the game scoreless headed into halftime.
Pirates head coach Jerry Fulton changed things up for the second half, switching from a 4-3-3 to a 4-4-2, allowing an additional midfielder to help the team wrestle control over the midfield.
And while it worked, a penalty midway through the half suddenly jeopardized everything.
Huber stepped up to make the would-be save of his career.
He didn’t have to.
