PLYMOUTH, Ind. -- The Plymouth Aquatic Center hosted their first charity gala at the Rees Theater Saturday night to raise money to help keep their indoor pool running.
Behind the aquatic center is a non-profit volunteer board organization that handles the upkeep of the pool and the hiring of lifeguards.
Their goal was to raise $50,000 along with simply shedding light on the facility.
"We have a group of individuals that have really brought it to life, and it's really thriving. And I think, I think the hope is that it showcases and gets people excited, and then people will come out and give it a try," says Robert Listenberger, Mayor of Plymouth."
Community members also spoke at the event highlighting the importance of learning how to swim at a young age.
