The National Weather Service released a winter storm warning at 12:59 a.m. on Sunday valid from 10 a.m. until Monday 7 p.m. for Northern Herkimer.

"Moderate to heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 7 and 14 inches, mainly near and north of Route 28," comments the weather service. "Snowfall rates up to 0.5 - 0.75 inch per hour at times today through tonight. The combination of falling snow and gusty winds will lead to reduced visibility."

"Roads will likely become slick and hazardous from moderate to heavy snow falling today through Monday. Visibilities may drop below 1 mile due to moderate to heavy snowfall and blowing snow.
