After four years of fundraising, planning, and plenty of perseverance, the North Norfolk Childcare Cooperative has something big to celebrate.
The group has been named one of four winners in WinField United Canada’s 'Raise the Barn' contest, earning $10,000 toward their childcare centre project in Austin. Now, the co-op is in the running for an additional $20,000, a prize that depends entirely on community voting.
“One winner is chosen from each province, and we were lucky to be one of the four," says board president Jo-elle Early. "That means we automatically receive $10,000 toward our daycare project, and now the second phase is 100 per cent based on votes. We need as many people in Manitoba to go in and vote for us."
The nomination itself was a meaningful milestone for the co-op.
