BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - North Carolina officials have reported two fires in the western region of the state.

Buncombe County

Officials said there is a 15-acre brush fire on Blue Ridge Parkway. As of around 5 p.m., the fire is reported 0% contained.

Buncombe County officials said all visitors must leave the Parkway between Rattlesnake Lodge and Ox Creek while crews respond to the brush fire.

Reems Creek Fire Department reported they currently have about eighty firefighters on the ground fighting the fire. Crews are also working from the air.

Haywood County

Officials reported that both sides of Panther Creek are currently closed due to an active fire near the 2800 block of Panther Creek. The public has been asked to avoid the area and refrain from outdoor burning while e
