A woman was struck and killed by an SUV while walking her dog Saturday morning, marking Edmonton's 30th traffic fatality of the year, police said.
Around 9 a.m. MT Saturday, a 2024 Nissan Rogue travelling southbound on 82nd Street, near the Mayliewan neighbourhood in the city's north side, turned left onto 153rd Avenue and struck the pedestrian, who was walking her dog northbound across 153rd Avenue on a marked crosswalk.
Paramedics attended the scene and transported the 58-year-old woman, who suffered life-threatening injuries, to hospital. She died later that day.
