MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy composed himself after struggling for 57 minutes Sunday afternoon against Chicago.
The second-year quarterback went 5-for-7 as he marched the Vikings' offense 85 yards for their first lead of the game with 50 seconds to play. Receiver Jordan Addison hauled in a pass in the front left corner of the end zone and kicker Will Reichard broke the 16-all tie with the extra point.
But after getting a spark from the special teams earlier in the game -- a 43-yard punt return to set up Minnesota's first touchdown -- it allowed Chicago one final shot in the closing seconds.
