For central government employees following National Pension System (NPS), the government has issued clarification on the eligibility criteria to get gratuity and death gratuity. Centre has also clarified when such an employee will not be eligible for gratuity and death gratuity.

In an Office Memorandum (O.M. No. 2/8/2025-P&PW(F)/11164), Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) has given the clarification in response to several queries and RTI applications seeking clarity about the gratuity criteria for central government NPS subscribers who resign from their job.
