A plan for a drive-through café and restaurant development in Rawtenstall has raised concerns over its potential impact on existing town centre businesses, traffic, historic buildings nearby and a conservation area
LSC Property Holdings Ltd, linked with Greene King Commercial Investments, wants permission to demolish the remains of the Old Cobblers Inn at New Hall Hey Road, to build a café, two restaurant units and car parking and have some landscaping. The site borders the East Lancashire Railway on one side with New Hall Hey Retail Park nearby.
But some objections have been received with concerns including Rawtenstall town centre trade, traffic, litter, fast food and people's health, and the design of the proposed new buildings.
