THE Borough of Queenscliffe has moved to stabilise its leadership, appointing an interim chief executive while the search for a permanent replacement gets underway.

The council appointed seasoned local government executive, Michael Tudball, to the role on Monday during a special council meeting that was closed to the public.

His three-month appointment will begin on December 1.

The decision follows the council’s vote last week to bring forward the end of current CEO Martin Gill’s contract by about 12 months.

Gill will end his six-year tenure with the borough on November 28. The council has not explained why his contract will end sooner than expected.

Borough mayor Di Rule welcomed Tudball’s appointment.
