Brighton council will see the Mayor’s proposed budget for 2026 at its meeting Monday. Under Strong Mayor Power legislation Mayor Brian Ostrander is presenting a

budget featuring a 4.9 percent tax increase over this year. That translates to $13.00 a month more on a house valued at $400,000 for municipal taxes only. Education and Northumberland County tax levies are not included in that figure. A public meeting on the Mayor’s budget is proposed for November 24th. Brighton council will have time to suggest amendments to the budget for the Mayor’s approval.
