Meter-based fares for auto rickshaws and taxis in Vasai– Virar has come into effect from November 15. The Regional Transport Office has announced revised fares for metered rickshaws, with the minimum fare starting at INR 26.
On October 13, Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik had stated that taxi and rickshaw drivers in Vasai and Virar were given time until November 15 to switch to meter-based services. The meeting focused on addressing traffic congestion in the Vasai–Virar Municipal Corporation area. According to the minister, drivers must charge passengers strictly as per the fare structure fixed by the state government.
