At a time when many Nashvillians may be feeling the squeeze from a record jump in property values and the higher tax bills that come with it, some property owners in Midtown may soon take an atypical step: opting to pay even more in taxes.
That’s because their neighborhood could become Nashville’s newest business improvement district, an area where commercial and residental property owners front the cost of enhanced services that go beyond the scope of what a local government provides, from street cleaning to private security.
