A man has sadly died following a crash on a motorway overnight.

The 19-year-old was fatally injured after leaving a vehicle and travelling on foot down the M66 'following a police pursuit', it has been reported.

He was struck by a car which was travelling southbound around 9.40pm on Sunday, November 16.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) say it is believed he may have been in a car previously involved in a pursuit with patrol officers.

They added that prior to the fatal crash, a blue BMW X3 was spotted driving at speed on Bury Old Road in Manchester. It later went through a red light which led to a police pursuit.
