During this year’s Hazardous Household Waste Collection, 27,471 pounds of waste material was safely disposed of in Mason County, with nearly 87,475 in the three county group, according to Mason-Lake Conservation Executive Director Dani McGarry in her annual report to the Mason County Board of Commissioners on Nov. 12
“We take all those hazardous materials and collect them safely so they don’t end up in our water waste,” McGarry said.
While 27,471 pounds of material were collected in Mason County, there were 34,518 pounds collected in Oceana County and 25,486 in Manistee County, totaling 87,475.
McGarry said the amount of waste collected in Mason County is down from the last few years, compared with 38, 404 pounds collected in 2024, 37,316 pounds in 2023, and 33,840 in 2022.
