MAHONING COUNTY, Ohio - Four new deputy dog wardens have been sworn in to serve Mahoning County. Each warden will be on road duty canvassing for stray and lost dogs and enforcing animal protection laws.
“If your dog doesn’t have a valid license, if it doesn't have a current rabies vaccine you can actually be cited into court with that,” Dianne Fry, the Chief Dog Warden in Mahoning County said.
“It's taking an oath. An oath is a big responsibility and they’re taking on a big responsibility…for taking care of the animals that cannot speak for themselves,” Judge Robert Rusu of the Mahoning County Probate Court said.
The new additions bring the county dog warden up the highest number of deputies they've ever had. At any time they can have two to three patrols happening in Mahoning County.
