The following awards and honors have recently been announced by south Louisiana businesses and nonprofit organizations.

New Orleans

Detroit Brooks was awarded the 2025 Danny Barker Award from the New Orleans Jazz Museum. Brooks, the founder of the Danny Barker Banjo & Guitar Festival, is a dedicated mentor, educator and renowned local musician. The award will be announced and presented during the museum's annual improvisations gala on Dec. 6.

Jim Cook , president and CEO of the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center was recently selected as a Young Leadership Council role model. Cook was also named to the New Orleans CityBusiness Power 50. Cook received the honor at an Oct. 24 reception.
