GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Each musical put on at Grand Island Senior High works to incorporate the next generation of theater students at the school.
This fall, the school put on a production of “Shrek the Musical,” and, along with the high school students, students in grades 4-8 in the district were able to audition to be a part of the young ensemble.
“They get to be in all of our big group members and develop relationships with our high school cast, and then hopefully help them keep in music as they go through elementary and middle school and then into high school,” said Katherine Welk, director of the musical.
GISH has had a young ensemble for the past several productions, and this year it featured around 100 students.
