VANDALIA, Ill. (First Alert 4) - A 14-year-old girl was found dead in the backyard after being reported missing Friday, and her adoptive brother faces first-degree murder charges in the case.

Arnold Rivera is charged with sexual assault, homicide by strangulation and concealing a body in the death of Kylie Toberman. Illinois State Police said her body was found in a tote in a locked RV in her own backyard hours after she was reported missing.

“Kylie was very beautiful, very energetic, very happy all the time. I have already missed her so much,” said Leann Deweese, Toberman’s maternal grandmother.

Deweese told First Alert 4 that she came to Vandalia thinking the girl was missing, but learned she was dead when she arrived.
