BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — Upshur County school officials are implementing increased security measures after a man, Andrew Devon Hitt, 25, who lives near Hodgesville Elementary School, was released to home incarceration under a deferred adjudication agreement on a felony terroristic threat charge.
The charge stems from messages intercepted by the Florida FBI in May that mentioned the school and sniping children.
Superintendent Christy Miller said the district is working with local law enforcement to ensure student safety, including seeking estimates for a privacy fence and increasing patrols.
"We've heard all about it and we're working on things," Miller said. "People are coming (Tuesday) to give us estimates on putting a privacy fence up. We've increased patrols at the school and we've been w
