A multi-vehicle crash closed Coe Avenue in East Haven on Monday evening.

It happened just after 4 p.m. at the intersection with Silver Sands Road.

According to police a driver in a Ford F350 caused an accident with a vehicle at the intersection of Hemmingway Avenue and Dodge Avenue.

The driver then continued south on Coe Avenue, causing a crash with a second vehicle before continuing on and causing a multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of Coe Avenue and Silver Sands Road.

Multiple people were injured and several were taken to the hospital, police said.
