SPENCER — Seeing a need in their community, two Spencer restaurateurs stepped up to fill a nutritional gap for area families.
Amy Ray is the owner of Pinocchio’s Italian Restaurant. Meanwhile, Quinta Ellis owns Fleming Street Bakery and Southern Cuisine.
Beginning last week, Ray and Ellis have been offering meals throughout the week to anyone who needs them. Ray has taken Tuesday and Friday. Ellis has done Monday and Wednesday.
It started with spaghetti and a garden salad. Ray pushed notice out on her restaurant’s Facebook page offering about 60 meals to anyone that needed them. To try and get them out to as many people as possible, they took excess meals over to Spencer’
