Just 15 months out from the next state election, NSW National party members have elected a new leader following the shock resignation of Dugald Saunders.
In a leadership ballot on the morning of Tuesday, November 18, members voted in favour of Saunders' deputy leader, Coffs Harbour MP Gurmesh Singh, taking over the top spot.
Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson is set to serve as Mr Singh's deputy, after on Monday telling ACM he would not contest the leadership.
"It's flattering to be considered [for the Leadership] but my focus remains on the Tamworth electorate as well as my portfolio responsibilities as Shadow Minister for Tourism, Gaming and Racing, the Arts and Heritage," he said in a statement.
