A 21-year-old rapper who was a rising star in the SoundCloud scene has died.

Orlando-based rapper Maxon Margiela, real name Maxon Reyes, reportedly died by suicide.

Mexican media outlet Somos Hermanos reported that Margiela had been hospitalised following the attempt and later succumbed to his injuries.

The young artist, known for his emotive fusion of hip-hop, lo-fi and emo influences, gained traction with hits including Sexual Fantasies and Suck!.

Men's Journal confirmed Reyes' death through the Orange County Medical Examiner's office, which stated, "He did pass away."

According to the Medical Examiner, the date of death for Reyes was 16 November 2025, and the place of death was Orlando, Florida.

The office added that the cause of death was not yet available, but might be available later in the day on 17 November.

Reyes had 10s of thousands of followers across his social media platforms and millions of streams on Spotify.

He released his second mixtape in July, which included his popular tracks Sexual Fantasies and Austin Powers.

Just over a month before his death, Reyes shared a now-tragic music video snippet on Instagram where he rapped about the "future".

"Kiss The Future! Out everywhere..." the young artist captioned the post.

Devastated fans have flooded the comments with condolences and prayers.

"Rest in paradise, Maxon Margiela. Fr one of the most genuine in the scene always brought good energy," one fan wrote on X.
