LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - While Texas Tech linebacker Jacob Rodriguez continues to campaign for his chance to hold the Heisman Trophy at New York’s Lincoln Center, there’s no shortage of honors rolling in from within the conference. On Monday, he was named the “Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week” for the third week in a row, fourth time overall.

With four minutes to play in the first half in Texas Tech’s 48-9 win over UCF, Rodriguez picked off Knight QB Tayven Jackson, before he was brought down at the UCF 23. That pick lead to a Red Raider touchdown moments later- Rodriguez’ fourth interception this season, and the ninth turnover he’s been responsible for. In Saturday’s win, he also reached the 100-tackle plateau.
