Filmmaker Georgia Oakley’s big screen adaptation of Jane Austen ’s classic novel Sense and Sensibility — starring Daisy Edgar-Jones as one of the Dashwood sisters — has landed a prime fall film festival release date.
The movie will open in the U.S. on Sept. 11, 2026 and in the U.K. on Sept. 26, just as awards season kicks off. Focus Features and Working Title Films , which are backing Oakley’s fresh take on the iconic novel, announced the news Monday.
Oakley is directing Sense and Sensibility from a script by author Diana Reid. The story centers on the impoverished Dashwood family, and portrays the romantic experiences of sisters Elinor and Marianne as they and their widowed mother navigate life for the once-wealthy family after the death of the father and husband.
