WASHINGTON — Less than 72 hours before a scheduled House vote on legislation forcing the Justice Department to release its files on the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, President Donald Trump did an about-face.

“House Republicans should vote to release the Epstein files, because we have nothing to hide,” the president wrote in an online post .

Epstein died in custody while awaiting trial in 2019.

During last year’s campaign, the president vowed to release the Epstein files if elected, but after winning the election, he backed off.

The president has never been accused of criminal wrongdoing in connection with Epstein.
