A former detective and FOP officer was sentenced Monday to jail time and ordered to pay back nearly $1 million after pleading to theft charges, according to Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday.

Joseph Osinski, 56, a former McKeesport, Allegheny County, detective who was also the financial officer for a local Fraternal Order of Police lodge, was sentenced to serve between nine and 18 months, followed by three years of probation.

Osinski was also ordered to pay just over $967,000 in restitution to the FOP lodge.

Previously, Osinski pleaded guilty to theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception, receiving stolen property and dealing in the proceeds of illegal activity.
