Thieves smashed the glass cases at Yang’s Jewellery in the Cambridge Centre Mall forcing shoppers to flee the area.
A witness who saw the robbery described a frantic scene after a loud bang at the jewelry store sent a crowd of shoppers running the area.
One mall employee on the scene said she saw one of the suspects holding what she believed to be a gun. She also said a security guard was able to stop one of the suspects. Police arrested the person.
Brad Hickey, communications officer for Waterloo Regional Police couldn’t confirm the presence of a firearm, but did confirm that no shots were fired.
Police also said they are investigating two separate robbery incidents; one in Cambridge and another in Waterloo.
