NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. — Newberry County police are investigating a deadly house fire that claimed the lives of two people early Friday morning.
The Newberry County Sheriff’s Office says 911 operators received a call just after 6:30 a.m. reporting a house fire on Windsong Hill Drive. Multiple crews arrived to find the home heavily engulfed in smoke.
Crews recovered two bodies. Both victims were found on the floor of their bedroom. Coroner Laura Kneece later identified them as 44-year-old April Nicole Sutton Long and 73-year-old Leroy Seegers, both of Silverstreet.
The Newberry County coroner says an autopsy was completed Monday, Nov. 17 revealing how both victims died.
