KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Kansas City could begin crushing ATVs caught in illegal sideshows under a new proposal from Councilman Crispin Rea.
The ordinance would allow the city to seize, impound and destroy sideshow vehicles. The move marks an escalation in the city’s ongoing effort to crack down on illegal sideshows.
“This stuff is dangerous,” Rea said. “These folks will drive into oncoming traffic on sidewalks and hit pedestrians.”
In April, the City and Kansas City Police Department increased enforcement with steeper fines and harsher penalties.
“We saw good results from the police department’s crackdown but that does not mean that we have stopped every incident of it,” Rea said.
