SNOW HILL, GREENE COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Eastern North Carolina has experienced heightened fire risks over the last few days, with some counties under red flag warnings and fire danger statements.
There were 334 wildfires across the state last week alone.
Monday afternoon a fire was reported in Bertie County, along the Roanoke River. At 4:00pm NC Forest Services said it was 50 acres in size and 0% contained with 6 N.C. Forest Service personnel assigned to the incident.
At 5:17pm the fire was 90 acres in size and 10% contained.
This is just one of the fires Bertie County has seen over the last week.
There was also a brush fire involving a building in Lenoir County. Fire and rescue were on the scene for about an hour, and extinguished the flame.
