CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - The College of Charleston is launching a new statewide effort to make college more accessible for South Carolina students and keep top talent in the state.

Starting in fall 2026, the South Carolina Talent Initiative will guarantee that eligible in-state students with financial need receive at least 65% of that need covered through a combination of scholarships, grants, and institutional aid.

Officials say the program is designed to help students not just get to college, but stay and graduate, with additional support including mentors and life-design coaches.
