GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - Reading state test scores released from the Mississippi Department of Education show momentum continuing to build across the state.
85% of third graders passed the third-grade reading assessment after the final retest. It was one point higher than the 2023-24 academic year.
84.5 percent of third-graders at Pass Road Elementary School scored level three or higher on the reading portion of the 2024-25 state test. There are five levels.
Principal LaQuita Gresham says the recent release of the scores is motivating, considering some believe Mississippi is looked down on for its education.
“It shows that our students in Mississippi can compete on a national level. We’re no longer at the bottom of the list. It shows that our kids are college and career-ready,” she sai
