LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The Kentucky Blood Center is asking donors to help beat Tennessee in their annual blood drive competition while boosting supply ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.

The 38th year of Big Blue Crush runs through Nov. 21, pitting Kentucky against Tennessee’s Medic Regional Blood Center in Knoxville.

Kentucky has held the upper hand in recent years, but officials said they need strong turnout to maintain their winning streak.

“We do need you beyond just beating Tennessee. We need you because the supply is not great right now and we know there’s going to be a big need next week,” said Eric Lindsey with the Kentucky Blood Center.
