JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A young girl is dead following a tragic crash near an elementary school in Jamestown.
City police say the four-year-old was hit by a school bus this morning just after 8 AM Monday as students were arriving.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Cole and Whitehill Avenues adjacent to the Fletcher Elementary School. The child was struck by a Panama School District bus which was in the process of dropping off another out of district student for instruction.
Responding police tried to provide first aid for the girl and she was rushed to UPMC Jamestown WCA Hospital where she later died from her injuries.
