At least one Chino police officer shot and injured a 29-year-old man armed with a knife while responding to a reported domestic violence situation Sunday, Nov. 16, according to police.
Officers responded around 9 p.m. after a witness heard a female victim screaming for help and saw a man possibly holding a knife in an apartment at 16250 Homecoming Dr., according to the Chino Police Department.
Officers contacted Royce Johnson, who was holding a large kitchen knife inside the home, police said.
When officers tried to de-escalate the situation, Johnson wouldn’t drop the knife and “became aggressive towards the victim and officers,” police said.
At least one officer fired their gun at Johnson. Officers provided medical aid, and Johnson was hospitalized, police said.
