At Pawty Little Things in Bellflower , workers and volunteers had one mission in mind Monday: give back to the community .

The boutique gave away grocery staples like eggs, milk and vegetables to dozens of those who needed them.

“In a time everybody is having a lot of issues right now with regards to being able to feed their family with the benefits being cut, it felt like the right thing to do,” said Jessica O’Neal, the store’s founder.

For those involved, the giveaway was sparked by the cycle of lending a hand that exists within the community.

“It’s not about what you have,” said Lynn Hillard, O'Neal's godmother and a volunteer. “It’s about what you give."
