The attorney representing the family of a 32-year-old wife and mother shot and killed on a Whitestown porch gave a statement Nov. 17 following the Boone County Prosecutor's Office's announcement that the homeowner would face a charge of voluntary manslaughter.

Attorney Alex J. Limontes said the family is "happy" to see criminal charges filed in connection with the "tragic and preventable" death of Maria Florinda Ríos Pérez de Velázquez . Curt Douglas Andersen, 62, the man who allegedly shot Ríos Pérez, was booked into the Boone County Jail Nov. 17.
