SPOKANE, Wash. – On November 17, 2015, the Jones family had not just one, but two trees crash through their home.

“We were at the window and it happened,” one of the children told at the time. “We were looking at the tree, and then the house started rumbling. And slowly the tree got faster and faster coming down on us.”

One tree, through the window of the girl’s bedroom. The other, through the garage.

“The motto is either to laugh or cry,” Elisa Jones said 10-years after the event. “We chose to laugh about it.

Initially, the family was told it would take six months and more than $200,000 to rebuild, but the process took longer than expected.

“They wound up being more like 9 or 10 months,” Eliza Jones said.
