The Edmonton Oilers were never really in this one — and this against the lowly Buffalo Sabres, the worst team in the Eastern Conference so far this year.

Edmonton got trounced at even strength — something their making a bad habit of this regular season — and lost 5-1 to Buffalo Sabres.

In the first 20 games, the Oilers launched 205 Grade A shots at even strength but Edmonton gave up 218 to their opponents, not exactly even strength dominance.

Against the Sabres, Buffalo had 13 Grade A shots, the Oilers just eight.

In total, Grade A shots were 15 for the Sabres, nine for the Oilers, with the subset of more dangerous 5-alarm shots 3-to-1 for Buffalo.
