Cate Blanchett was among the many celebrities who met with Pope Leo XIV during the Papal Audience with the Film Industry over the weekend.

The Pope hosted a meeting with dozens of actors, actresses, filmmakers, and screenwriters on Saturday morning (November 15) at the Clementine Hall in Vatican City, Vatican.

Pope Leo noted during the meeting that cinema represents “a popular art in the noblest sense, intended for and accessible to all.” The Vatican said Pope Leo aimed to “deepen dialogue with the World of Cinema, and in particular with actors and directors” to explore “the possibilities that artistic creativity offers to the mission of the Church and the promotion of human values.”

Also in attendance at the meeting were Greta Gerwig , Viggo Mortensen , Spike Lee
