WELLPINIT, Wash. – Spokane Tribal Police were involved in a foot chase on November 16 that resulted in a presumed drowning in the Spokane River.

Officers said they attempted to make contact with an adult male who had active warrants in Lincoln County, Stevens County and Minnesota.

The man fled on foot, leading to a pursuit that ended when he jumped into the Spokane River and disappeared underwater. Despite an extensive visual search, he did not resurface and is presumed drowned, police said.
