WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The Sedgwick County Fire Department has a new K-9 member of the team.
Latitude, also known as ‘Lati’, is an ATF Accelerant Detection K-9. The 19-month-old black lab is trained by the ATF to detect flammable liquids. Lati will help the department detect arson.

Lati trains almost every day, and the team rewards him with food to keep him motivated.
Captain Maroun Faissal with Sedgwick County Fire District 1 explains why Lati has to consistently train.
“Obviously we’re not going to get an arson call every day,” Faissal said. “So to keep that memorized, and to keep that drive going in finding accelerant, we have to train them every day.”
Lati can be requested from any department
