SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - National Transportation Safety Board investigators released a preliminary report regarding a helicopter crash in Springfield in October that seriously injured two people.
The helicopter crashed around 11:30 a.m. on October 21 in a field in Cooper Park. That is in the 2300 block of East Pythian near the downtown Springfield airport. It involved a training flight with the So Fly Flight Training Academy,
A student pilot was flying with an instructor on board during the incident, according to the NTSB. Wind speeds spiked to dangerous levels for flying around the time of the crash. The instructor said the helicopter would not turn properly, and the pilot lost control, leading to the crash.
Investigators noted this was the second crash involving So Fly Flight Training
