DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) - The Dubuque City Council approved Monday a comprehensive study to assess the location of the city’s six fire stations as well as the condition of each building.

The chosen consulting firm will evaluate the condition of these buildings and opportunities to improve response time in the study.

Dubuque Fire Chief Amy Scheller said prioritizing the health and well being of the staff will be an important part of this process. That could include renovating, tearing down, or relocating fire stations.

“They’ve really done a great job advocating and communicating what their needs are, this study is only going to support and confirm what those needs are and then give us a punchlist of where we can work,” Scheller said.
