MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The City of Madison failed to tell impacted overseas voters their ballots were not counted during the November 2024 election.

Nearly 200 ballots went uncounted in Madison during the fall election. The missing ballots did not impact any election results. While the City informed affected voters living in the states, overseas voters whose ballots were among the 193 uncounted were left in the dark.

Emma Kempf, a University of Wisconsin-Madison graduate studying in Taiwan, voted absentee in the November 2024 election.

“Every time I get my ballot, I make sure to vote right away,” Kempf said.

The MyVote Wisconsin portal showed her ballot arrived weeks before election day, Kempf said.

“I just assumed it was counted,” Kempf said.
