STATEWIDE -- When job corps programs were suspended in the state of Maine, hundreds of students were thrown into uncertainty. Senator Susan Collins says she was outraged when the two Maine locations were targeted, but as of Monday morning, both Maine locations are now open again.

The job corps program serves youth between the ages of 16 and 24. They are frequently at-risk youth from challenging backgrounds who need extra support and job skills to help keep them on the path to employment and stability.

She singled out the Bangor Job Corps Center's advanced pipe fitting program that directly feeds the workforce at Bath Iron Works.
