A Dawesville local who tried to sell fish to an undercover fisheries officer had his recreational fishing licence cancelled for life on Tuesday.
Reece Harvey Dawe pleaded guilty at Mandurah Magistrates Court to two counts of intentionally or recklessly contravening a management plan and taking fish over the bag limit.
In 2023, Dawe was caught by fisheries officers with bald chin grouper, swallowtail snapper, pink snapper and dhufish concealed in his boat.
The 38-year-old also attempted to sell fish he’d caught to an undercover fisheries officer.
His lawyer, Michelle Cox, said Dawe provided fish products to people out of “good intentions” when he caught more than required or didn’t eat it and didn’t know he was trying to sell to an undercover officer.
