COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Attorney General's Office filed a lawsuit on Monday against a man accused of taking over $142,000 in payments for consulting services he never followed through on.
Cole Dockery, of Hicksville, in Defiance County, violated state law by misleading consumers into investing in his company, Ecommerce Business Builders, accepting more money in down payments than he legally could without putting some in escrow and failing to disclose certain information, the lawsuit from AG Dave Yost says.
Dockery is accused of violating the Business Opportunity Purchasers Protection Act on six different counts:
Failure to provide a proper disclosure statement
Making representations regarding sales potential without required disclaimer, disclosures and substantiation
Making false an
